My path to being a metalsmith has been a nontraditional one, and an all too true example of “life is what happens while you’re making other plans”. From my earliest metal working experiences in high school, it was always my intent to return to it as an artistic endeavor, but that goal remained unrealized until years later. A single class led to a renewed fascination with metal work, so eager to learn more, I began to pursue it in earnest by enrolling at a local studio. There I was immersed in all aspects of metalsmithing, laying the foundation for many years of further studies with private tutors and in numerous independent workshops and master classes.
Today I am a member of the teaching staff at the Armstrong Tool and Supply, Livonia, MI and the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center, Birmingham, MI in addition to teaching private classes. I also serve as President of the Michigan Silversmiths Guild.
Selected recent shows include the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair, Ann Arbor, MI, the Belle Isle Art Fair, Detroit, MI, the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts Fair, Kalamazoo, MI, the Waterfront Invitational, Saugatuck, MI, and the Franklin Art in the Village, Franklin, MI.
My works are offered for sale at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center, Birmingham, MI, The Lansing Art Gallery, Lansing, MI, Sleeping Bear Gallery, Empire, MI and the W Gallery, Cleveland, OH. They are also available directly from me.
